Mummy lived as a quadriplegic for 25 years. Paralyzed in body, not in purpose. Her life defied limits, and her story ignites faith. She shared smiles, and her story inspired lives. She showed us that even when the world stops moving around you, heaven still works through you. She did not just endure, with her voice she created, led, and ministered. Hers is a voice that still speaks. Her life was worship, her pain became purpose, and in silence her faith spoke loudly. A life poured out in full. A gospel of stillness, joy, and deep understanding. She will be so missed. Rest in perfect peace, mummy.
Her Story - A life of Grace and Strength
Elizabeth Oluwarantimi “Ranti” Ifabiyi (née Olaosebikan) was a radiant woman of purpose, unshakable faith, extraordinary intellect, unstoppable strength, hilarious sense of humor, and divine purpose.
Fondly known as “Ranti” she lived a life marked by service, sacrifice, and spiritual strength, a life that, even after unimaginable tragedy, continued to shine as a beacon of hope and healing for others.
Born in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria in 1957, she was the first of eight children and a beacon of academic excellence.
She completed her primary education at Demonstration School in Igbaja, followed by secondary education from 1971 to 1975 at Playfair Memorial College, Oro-Ago, Kwara State.
In 1975, She earned her A-Levels from Kwara State College of Technology, School of Basic Studies, Ilorin, and went on to receive a B.Sc. (Honors) in Biology from the prestigious University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1981. She later earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Lagos in 1997, becoming a trailblazer for women in technology and public service in Nigeria.
Ranti began her career in education but soon transitioned to technology and public service, joining the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in 1990 as a Senior Systems Analyst. She led the national rollout of Nigeria’s Enhanced Driver’s License Scheme and rose to the role of Assistant Director, overseeing the FRSC’s Central Data Bank. She was a strategic thinker, a pioneer in tech-enabled governance, and a highly respected public servant.
On June 19, 2000, while on official duty to assess field operations in multiple states across Nigeria, Ranti was involved in a car accident in Nasarawa State that left her quadriplegic (paralyzed from the neck down) unable to walk, move her limbs, or live independently. She was flown to Germany for emergency surgeries and spent months in intensive care and rehabilitation before returning back to her home in Abuja, Nigeria.
But even from her bed, her ministry only deepened. She authored evangelistic tracts, mentored caregivers, encouraged countless souls, and through the help of voice-to-text tools, she recorded voice notes, dictated into a phone, and transcribed with her eyes—desperately capturing every thought and revelation before it left her mind.
She completed a memoir chronicling her 25-year journey through paralysis, faith, and divine assignment. Her story became her song. Her song became her gospel. And her gospel became a movement of deep truth, dignity, worship, and power.
Her life became a living testimony, marked by worship, wisdom, perseverance, and joy.
She is survived by her loving husband, daughter, and two sons.
Forever in our hearts
“I was bedridden for 25 years, but I was still chosen. I could not brush my own teeth, but I was still called.”
